My story

I grew up in Northumberland in the North East of England, where the big views and empty beaches had me dreaming of lands and cultures across the sea.

That curiosity led me south to study French and German, discovering a love of linguistics and Scandinavian languages along the way.

Researching how languages change over time led to a ten-year academic career, and gave me a deep appreciation for how language connects people across space and time.

Now based in the Netherlands, I’m combining my academic experience with my lifelong passion for communication to help science and research reach those who most need to hear it.
